When Mason and I first started talking about a babymoon, we had a lot of different ideas. We reminisced about some of our favorite trips we had taken in the past, and we discovered a theme: road trips and nature.

We both love getting away from the hustle and bustle and spending time together, especially if it involves tents and s’mores! The more we thought about it, the more it made sense for us to take baby Dyer on his first road trip/camping trip… After all, we are celebrating him.

Driving up the coast to Big Sur may be one of the most beautiful drives in all of California. It is so rugged and untamed; beautiful just as it is.

We stayed in the Ventana Campground and totally had no plans (which is always the best plan.)
The Bixby Bridge was only a short drive north, so around sunset we drove up there to hang out with a bunch of other tourists and it did not disappoint! Such a beautiful sunset!!

I have never once regretted camping, And I still stand by this.
But let me just say, it is not so glamorous having to get up at 3:30am to squat outside in nature to pee with a 22 week pregnant belly.
Its just not.
(Whoever planned this excursion was only using half of her baby-brain 😜)
