80 Days Stronger

I am here to tell you, “YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!”

When I first started 80 Day Obsession, one of the newest programs available through Beachbody on Demand (BOD), I had no idea what I was getting into.

I was going to be doing 80 consecutive days of working out, 30-60mins a day, with only 1 rest day a week.

I was starting something called “timed nutrition;” an eating plan timed to help your body fuel up for a workout and then recharge after a workout.

I was going to meal-prep for the first time in my life.

I was going to learn so much about myself.

.

Through this program, I learned how hard work pays off over time. This isn’t a “quick-fix” sort of program, and you know what? That suits me just fine! I wanted a program that would teach me how to incorporate exercise and healthy nutrition into my daily life. They say it takes 3 weeks to make a habit, well I’m here to tell you that 80 days also makes a habit!

Though this program, I learned to not go by the scale alone. When I started, I could barely do 10 push-ups. I am so much stronger now that 10 push-ups doesn’t scare me anymore. Do you know what that is? Muscle. I gained muscle in this program and muscle weighs more than fat. So, at the end of the program I had lost 6 pounds but my before and after photos showed a lot more than that. I was so happy with the person who was looking back at me in the mirror, I didn’t even care about numbers.

Through this program, I learned that I can do hard things. Being in a postpartum body is hard; it’s like you don’t even know your body anymore. I didn’t know what my body could do until I tried, so I tried, and I gave it all I had. I have a toddler, and for those of you who have been in this life stage, you know that nap time is EVERYTHING. I would put Ford down for his nap and then I would do my workout. It was a top priority for me and I realized that if I was going to do this, it HAD to be a priority. There were so many other things that needed my time and attention, but I realized that I too needed time and attention and working out was what I needed. During this span of time, I was also an ER nurse and worked three 12-hour shifts a week. On the days that I worked, I would either get up at 4am and do my workout and then go to work, or I would come home and do it after 12 hours in the ER. Yes, those were the days that I wanted to stop or just not make it a priority, but I DIDN’T QUIT. And I’m so glad I didn’t.

I am here to tell you that you can do hard things. You don’t have to be in the perfect shape and you don’t even have to be “healthy” to start making little changes that, over time, make big changes. 80 Day Obsession is only one of the many different programs that Beachbody on Demand offers. There are ones that are tailored for certain things and there are ones that are beginner, intermediate and expert leveled. If you want to start making healthy changes that will affect you and your family from here on out, I know a girl 😉
