I’m gonna sit here and meditate on these granola bars…

I normally use this space to share my heart with you all and get deep into some motherhood issues, but I went pretty deep on my Instagram post yesterday…
So today, instead of sharing what’s on my heart, I want to share what’s in my kitchen!
Recently Ford has become obsessed with sharing EVERYTHING I eat and drink. I realized that even though I am pretty careful about looking at the ingredient labels on things, there are still a lot of ingredients in the protein bars I like, and some of them probably aren’t the best for his little body. I decided I wanted to do a very “granola mom” thing and make my own granola bars.
I found this recipe on Pinterest and LOVE IT.
It is so simple, you can’t go wrong! And feel free to add in whatever ingredients you like. I have added coconut chips, chia seeds and flax seed in the past, and I feel like raisins or another type of dried fruit would really work well in these too!
Hope you enjoy!
5 Ingredient Granola Bars
Ingredients:
-
2 cups quick cooking oats
-
1 cups almond butter
-
1/2 cup sliced almonds
-
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
-
1/4 cup honey
-
optional salt and cinnamon to taste
-
Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well. I find that using a fork works best. Add more honey if it seems to not be holding together.
-
Line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper, allowing the paper to spill over on the sides. Press the granola mixture into the pan until it is evenly spread out.
-
Place in the freezer for 45min to an hour, or until it is firm. Lift the parchment paper out of the pan with the granola. Cut the big square in half, then cut each half into 6 rectangles.
-
Wrap each granola bar individually with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator or freezer.
