The seasons are changing, and as I gathered these pine cones from my front yard and looked around at all the foliage “treasures” my son was collecting, I reveled in how the Lord has given us everything we have needed for this season.
As I was sitting in church yesterday singing the song “Reckless Love,” I was struck by how powerful these lyrics are. I’ve written them below to meditate on how good the Lord is and how strong His love is for us.
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
So, the takeaway message from this post is that no matter what you are facing this Monday morning, you were created with love. Your heavenly father sings over you and has been loving you since before you were born.
We live in a broken world, a sinful world, and there are so many hurtful things that I can’t understand, but I do know that a God of love exists. I know that every good gift is from Him and I have 100 reasons to be thankful!
And for the times when I feel like I am lacking, or that I don’t have the things I need, I remember this verse,
“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” -2 Corinthians 12:9
May you go into today knowing that you are loved and that you have everything you need in Jesus.
